Fancy Friday 14 - Boho Chic

Image
Happy Fancy Friday! Sorry this post is later in the day than usual, but hey it's still Friday! Just a quick reminder that my giveaway is still running! I'm giving away a clip-in feather hair extension, all you have to do is go to Fancy Friday 13 and leave a comment! Anywho, one of the readers suggested I do my interpretation of a boho look. For Fancy Friday #6 I did a nature-inspired look that was going that direction, and this look feels very similar to me (Aka comfy!). Hope you like it Karen! The dress was originally from Anthropologie, but I got it and the great floral tights from a clothing swap with my friends. The little knit vest is from Old Navy. For my makeup, I did the usual powder plus a more copper-toned blush. On my eyes I did only white eyeliner on the inner bottom rims and around the top lash line, plus  little flick at the outer edge and I blended the line out gently with a shadow brush. My lips are my favorite Revlon lip stain in "Honey...

Sweet baby dress with a sophisticated color palette!

I've recently become friends with a lovely lady who works at my chiropractor's office and she requested that I sew a cute little dress for her 18 month old girl. It's been a long time since I've sewn a piece of clothing from a pattern (I usually just wing it like when I did Me-Made-May a few years ago ), so I was delighted to do this because it worked as a great refresher for me. So playful in pattern but very sophisticated in color, which I think makes it even more fun. And here's the finished product: I am soooo in love with this dress! The pattern I used was from Handmade Charlotte, and you can download the PDF for free here.  It's called the Merrymaker dress and it's very well written. Her original version has patte...

Fancy Friday #5

Image
Hi everyone! This Fancy Friday actually occurred on a Saturday (I know, I know) as I had a party to go to and still don't have the gumption to get fancy more than once a week. I'm sure glad we took these photos because during a water balloon toss at said party I got hit right on the top of the head and the hairstyle was instantly obliterated. All in good fun though, and I had a blast so I didn't mind at all. I'm very proud of this week's look because of my nails! Squee! I think I was in eighth grade the first time I painted my own nails and it was not pretty, and the next time was possibly senior prom. I've been trying to get better at it, using mostly clear top coat or glitter polishes to practice with so I don't make a mess. I have to say that this time was the first time ever that I didn't get polish all over the edges of my fingers as well as the first time I didn't mangle a nail while it was wet. I was feeling so bold I even used a ...
