Hi everyone! Are you following me on Instagram yet? No? Why not?! (@ohthecuteness) I'm getting tired of ye olde Etsy shop these days and I think Instagram will be my new online venue for selling my one-of-a-kind items. I'm having a sale on my account tonight starting at 5 p.m. PST, and you can read how it works in my most recent Instagram post.  Also, if you don't have a smartphone fear not! You can still participate in all my sales by going to my actual Instagram webpage at http://www.instagram.com/ohthecuteness! Included in this sale will be my jumbo paper flower surprise balls pictured above. I have 9 left and each one is unique and super fun! Over 70 feet of German hand-cut multicolored crepe paper streamers are wrapped around 8 unique vintage-inspired prizes to create the stem and center of each flower, then I used recycled tissue paper to make the petals. Don't miss out!  Also included in this sale will be my new pompom flower bouquets. I...

Free Crochet Pattern: The Weekend Baby Blanket. A crocheted cotton color-blocked baby blankie that would make a great last-minute gift!

Many thanks to my friend Nadine over at Birdy Boutique Photography for this little snapshot, what a cutie! First, a little back story about this pattern: I was able to take some time to go visit my family recently and had such a wonderful time. My mother always inspires me to be creative because she is so full of great ideas! Her craft cabinet is in the guest room and when I woke up the first morning I saw this, and  had to stumble around like a zombie to get my camera and snap a picture: What amazing colors,  was the first thing I thought when I opened my eyes. When I was more awake I pulled the yarn out of the cabinet and took a picture so I could remember the scheme and go buy some when I got home. I just loved those colors and had to make something with them! Long story short mom ended up giving the yarn to me right then and there, and I had my hooks with me (Never leave home without them!), so I just started in on a baby blanket while we were hanging ou...

How-Tuesday 45 - Cakes, budgets, and tiny crochet!

Image
Happy How-Tuesday! This week I found a great vertical layer cake tutorial, a whole site filled with budget-friendly goodies, and a sweet way to make a crochet scarf. I'd love it if you readers out there would send me some tutorials you're in love with, either via the comments here or e-mail them to me at ohthecuteness@hotmail.com. The more people participating, the more fun it will be, and feel free to post links to your own projects as well! Firstly, I found this fantastic tutorial from the I Am Baker blog for creating vertical layers inside a cake in lieu of the traditional horizontal ones. How much fun would this be as a surprise?! I stumbled upon a site called Budget 101 and kind of got lost in it for a long while. They have all kinds of DIY ideas, but the one I liked most was this huge page of mixes for all sorts of goodies that you can make in mason jar s and give as gifts. Go check them out! Lastly, I found this cute tiny squares scarf tutorial from Do ...

Meet Phinneas!

Image
This little guy is named Phinneas. And yes, I know it's kind of funny to have a little pink and purple polka dot elephant be a boy but, well, he's only a baby. I've been working on him for a while after Aubrey the orange elephant sold, but after the move I lost him in the pile of unfinished projects. Which, by the way, I've been finishing slowly all this week. I think the anti-crafting funk is over, yay! Anywho, back to Phinneas. Angela's good friend was having a baby shower for her soon-arriving little girl and she wanted a special present for them. I told her about Phinneas and she asked me to finish him for her friend. So, sorry, but he's not going to be seen in the etsy shop because Angela's already snatched him up! He's made from a recycled fleece blanket and some scraps of sage green ultrasuade were used for the inside of his ears and his cute little belly. Look at that little tail! I don't normally put tails on the elephants I make, but Ang...
