Fancy Friday #6

Image
Ah Fancy Friday. This week I had the urge to do some gardening on Friday, so my outfit turned out to have a very flower-child vibe to me. Super posh gardening gloves no? They're actually jersey over-the-elbow gloves I bought from Daiso for $1.50 (Everything in Daiso is $1.50, you should check them out!), and I just scrunched them down.  I wanted to go a little more natural with the makeup, while still keeping the hippy vibe, so I got some white eyeliner and lined the inner rims of my eyes, then used dark brown liner and mascara and swept on a little copper on my lids. A slightly darker powder and a bronzier blush helped keep the palette neutral, and the Revlon lip stain is a nude-pink called Honey.  Accessories! The hat is my all-time favorite sunhat, found at Target ages ago. I added the sheer pink ribbon. I left my hair to dry naturally after adding a little leave-in conditioner and scrunching it to increase the waviness. The single braid is held with a ...

Waterfall Hike

Image
A little while ago Johnny took me to the outskirts of my new town to go on a lovely hike to see some waterfalls. Uvas Canyon County Park  is about 3 miles of looping trail and is absolutely gorgeous! Click on the link to go to the Bay Area Hiker page, it has tons of great info on the park. In the winter the water is too high to get very close to a couple of the falls, but this makes them far more spectacular. It was so incredibly beautiful and I highly recommend this place for hikers and campers alike as there's an awesome campground next to the river and we are planning a nice weekend trip there soon! (Also, as always, there's a ton more photos on my flickr here .)  There's lots of fallen trees across the river, this one swayed a lot!  It was so hot that day and so nice to chill in the pools.  Admiring the majesty...

Foraging in Spring

The Cottage Law class went swimmingly! Someday in the future I will hopefully be able to put what I learned to good use, which opens up so many exciting possibilities. A few weeks earlier, for our six month anniversary (Yikes, how time flies!), Johnny also signed us up for the foraging class taught by Forage SF. More specifically it was taught by a guy named Kevin, and you can check out his website, Feral Kevin , for more info on the classes he teaches. That's Kevin, talking about sorrel. When Johnny and I arrived and I saw the other people we were taking the class with, I knew I was going to be that annoying kid at the front of the class that new all the answers. Turns out I was right, as I was the only one in the crowd responding when he asked, "Does anyone know what this is?". Luckily the teacher was excited about this rather than annoyed lol.  Wild radish flowers. They also come in pink and purple.  One of my fellow classmates sampling the wild radish ...
